Liturgies and Masses form an essential element in the spiritual lives and reflective practice of our students and the extended Terrace Family. These special occasions are overseen by the Dean of Identity.
Our whole College liturgical celebrations are:
- Opening Mass & Blessed Edmund Rice Day Mass
- Liturgies - Ash Wednesday Liturgy, Easter Liturgy, St Joseph’s Day, ANZAC Liturgy, End of Term Thanksgivings
All members of the Terrace Family are invited weekly to attend Tuesday Morning Mass in the Chapel of The Holy Family. This Mass is hosted by Religious Education classes across Years 5 to 10. Additionally, each House (plus Waterford Place) hosts a mass throughout the year. Each Mass is celebrated by our College Chaplain.
Tuesday Morning Mass commences at 7.30am; however, please check the Terrace News for any changes.
As a member of the St Stephen’s Parish, Year 12 families celebrate the annual Valedictory Mass at The Cathedral of St Stephen.
Teaching staff are expected to participate in the religious life of the College through actively participating in, and playing leading roles in, leading the masses and liturgies as outlined above. Teaching staff celebrate an Opening Mass and a biannual End of Semester Mass.
Community masses are also celebrated with the Gregory Terrace Old Boys, TLG and College Support Groups.
Daily and weekly rituals occur at Terrace. Each afternoon we conclude the school day with each member of the College praying our College prayer. Staff members lead prayer at the beginning of staff meetings, including staff briefings, College Leadership Team meetings, Pastoral Team meetings and Faculty meetings. Teachers are encouraged to lead prayer with their classes before the commencement of each lesson. Parent Support Groups also are encouraged to commence meeting with prayer.
The weekly College Assembly commences with a prayer that is lead by a variety of teachers and students.
Rituals also extend to the blessing and commissioning of Immersion groups, cultural and sporting tour groups and co-curricular activities and events. A prayer is said by supporting students before the commencement of all First team performances.
A sacramental program is offered to students and their families through the Cathedral of St Stephen Parish or through the parish of their belonging.
