Years 5 and 6 Program Leader | Mr Brendan Ganley

Often, we hear of the words and actions of the ‘Gentlemen of Terrace’ of the past but what is also inspiring can be the words of our newest Terracians that capture a glimpse of how they have experienced their first days at Terrace.  As we near the end of Term 1, it is great to hear how a couple of students have experienced Terrace life so far:

5 Blue – I’m really enjoying my time at Terrace because everyone is so kind and nice. There are so many things to do and so many opportunities - Otto Devantier.
5 Green – Terrace is a great school with lots of opportunities. I have made lots of new friends and can’t wait to make more. There are so many sports to choose from. These are just a couple of examples of what has made my Terrace experience so amazing - Henry Bates.
5 Red – When I came to Terrace, I was nervous and had mixed emotions. Even though I didn’t know what to expect, I have enjoyed every minute. My favourite part has been the opportunities. For example, playing cricket. This has helped me to use better sportsmanship - Daniel Naughton.
5 White – Ever since my first day at Terrace, I have loved it here. Year 5 students are very lucky to have Year 12 buddies. Without mine, I would be lost. I am very lucky to be going to such a great school - Edward Fletcher.
5 Yellow – At Terrace, I have had a great time and loving it. I love how Mrs Holt explains things. It has been great meeting new boys and being a part of the Terrace Family. I can’t wait to experience all that Terrace has. I love Terrace! - Conor Sheehy.

Mr Paul Antenucci (Head of Campus Ministry) came into our classrooms to speak about our Lenten Journey here at Terrace and how we can be involved with the College in the Lenten social justice program. Our Lenten Journey in Years 5 and 6 culminates with our annual Lenten Walk and Fair on the last day of school. Envelopes have been distributed for financial support for the event.

This week our Year 5 students experienced their first exam block and as a group they have worked extremely hard at their preparation and application to exams. It will be a great reward next week with exams finished when they experience camp for the first time and are introduced to the Outdoor Education program. Our Year 5 program runs over three days, but this short time is an introduction to more extended camp experiences as they progress through the years.

For an amazing insight into the Maroon camp experience be sure to view the College Outdoor Education Video linked below.

All the enthusiasm and commitment to studies and the emphasis on planning and preparation in Term 1 have contributed to the development of a great approach to learning and study habits for the beginning of Term 2.
