Dean of Identity
The Terrace Family are part of an extended faith and education community known as Edmund Rice Education Australia. We are supported and challenged by the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice tradition, which features four Touchstones that help us to enhance our core business of forming young men who know and live the wisdom of serving their God.
Edmund Rice’s legacy has a rich tradition in Australia and continues to evolve through our hearts, hands and voices. Our Gentlemen of Terrace framework is a modern rendition of how we continue the Edmund Rice story, invigorating the future of his dream by bringing the four Edmund Rice Touchstones to life at Terrace. These Touchstones are underpinned by our three College values, knowledge, humility and wisdom.
As young men, students are on a long journey of discovery. Students can look to the Touchstones to develop their Terrace identity, laying the foundation for broader identity development.
The Gentlemen of Terrace framework also reinforces the College’s Mission, a commitment to the formation and education of young men who will make a difference through service to God, the community and each other.
All students are called to welcome and teach one another what it means to be Gentlemen of Terrace in their words and actions. It is hoped that all students will be clear examples of the College motto, ‘To Serve God is to be Wise'.
As a College, we are characterised by our faith in action. Terrace has a long and proud commitment to social justice. Our Gentlemen of Terrace walk forward together with personal moral courage and servant leadership, trusting one person can make a difference. At the core of our spirituality is the Gospel Message of Jesus. This is a message of being with the marginalised and socially disadvantaged. Our Gentlemen of Terrace framework reflects this living Gospel message at Terrace. With Jesus in our hearts, we strive for a more just, unified and inclusive future shared for all within our Terrace Family and the broader community.
Above all, at the heart of the Terrace experience is building an atmosphere of care, where relationships matter and where the person of Jesus Christ is present to us, in us, and through us daily.
Students are given various experiences to engage in the College's Religious Life. These include:
At Terrace, our hope and inspiration are for the Terrace Family to be the voice and embodiment of Edmund Rice in today’s society. For his compassion and selflessness to be contemporised through the Gentlemen of Terrace.
