Captains' Corner | Oliver Nasser, College Vice Captain 2025
If you were to tell me in Year 5, that one day I would be appointed College Vice Captain, I wouldn’t believe you.
My name is Oliver Nasser, and I am grateful to be taking up this role in 2025, Terrace’s 150th year. Throughout my time at the College, I have been shaped by the opportunities I have been given and the friendships I have made along the way. Whether it has been on the rugby field, on the cricket pitch, or simply in and around the College, it is safe to say that Terrace is like home to me.
Over the past seven years, I have been lucky enough to see and admire a variety of leaders. An example that comes to mind is Angus White, who was the College Captain when I was in Year 6. His leadership qualities were commendable, and I hope to model his likeness in 2025. I started my journey at Terrace in 2018 as a young and quiet kid, but quickly found my place here at the College. With the support of staff and my peers, I have had the opportunity to discover my identity and, most importantly, be myself.
The 2024 Captains have made it a year to remember. Their ability to foster an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued never went unnoticed. From leading one of, if not the best, Gorilla Gathering Terrace has ever seen, to the group’s undying passion for Carrying the Crest, Tom, Jack, Finn, Max, and Charlie should all be very proud of themselves. With their post-school celebrations now in full swing, I hope they take the time to enjoy themselves and be proud of their achievements. Looking to next year, I am confident that Cooper Dooley, Rupert McGrath, Rehan De Livera, Lachlan Cooper and I will be able to successfully take on the challenge of leadership. With the support of our cohort and following the footsteps of those before us, we will Carry the Crest into 2025.
As we approach the end of Term 4, the Year 12s have officially graduated, and all other Terracians are preparing for and completing their exam block. With the aim to finish 2024 on a high, I would like to wish everyone the best of luck.
I hope everyone in the Terrace Family enjoys a beautiful summer break. I look forward to seeing you next year as we return ready for Terrace’s 150th year as a College.
