Captains' Corner | Rehan De Livera, College Vice Captain 2025
To those who I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Rehan De Livera, and I am so honoured to have been appointed Vice Captain of the College for 2025.
I have been lucky enough to call Terrace my second home since 2018, starting all the way back in Year 5. I am so glad that my parents selected Terrace as their first-choice school. The College has been an ever-giving fountain, providing me with a plethora of amazing opportunities. Over the years I have tried my hand at volleyball, cricket, basketball and football. I even played rugby in Year 5, although I must admit it was very short-lived – my playing career lasted only one season in the mighty 5E side. I have also had the pleasure of playing in many bands as part of the Terrace Music program. The most rewarding activity for me, however, has been the time I have spent working with the Eddie’s Van across the streets of Brisbane. The Terrace community has been incredibly supportive throughout my time at the College, and I have made friendships that I am sure will last a lifetime.
Throughout my time here, I have met and interacted with a number of great role models. For me, the College Captain of 2018, Jacob Montaner made a lasting impression. From my first day, Jacob was outgoing and the kind of guy that was always ready for a conversation. He was someone that everyone wanted to be mates with, and he made a point of getting to know everyone. There are so many stories of Jacob being the guy who wasn’t afraid to stand out from the pack, and instead stick up for what he thought was right. His character epitomises what it means to be a Terracian. As I travel through my final year in 2025, I hope that I too can serve as an inspiring role model for the next generation.
As we approach GT150, I am feeling equally excited and nervous! The boys I get to lead alongside – Cooper, Lachie, Ollie and Rupert – are outstanding blokes. Congratulations must also go to our House Captains for next year, who were announced last week. As a Reidy boy I am so happy with who we have elected, and it seems this is a recurring sentiment across all of the House groups.
Looking towards next year, we acknowledge that we will need the help and support of our peers to make 2025 the best it can possibly be. The Class of 2025 is such an amazing group of young men, and I am confident that we will rally together to make memories we will remember forever.
With the Year 12 boys wrapping up their schooling journey, and my own cohort commencing the transition into being leaders at the College, there are a lot of mixed emotions. It’s quite a surreal feeling. Terrace is a place of belonging and of community, and as the current Year 12s spend their last days on campus there is one common message:
Make the most of the time you have here, and enjoy it!
I am so excited for next year, and I hope you all are too.
