TLG Update | Mrs Anna Wright
Term 4 sport is all about athletics (and rowing training…I haven’t forgotten that yet!). The Inter-House Athletics Carnival occurred on Friday 4 October. This year, we had the largest number of helpers and the most homebake I have ever seen. Thank you to those 100 families who answered the call to contribute, and a huge shout out to the small group of hard-working volunteers in the BBQ. This team kept the burgers and chips coming all day, much to our boys’ delight. Once Kirsten Carroll turned the playlist up, the canteen felt like a party. Food was made, and drinks were served amidst a sea of red aprons. None of us could have kept up with the demand without caffeine, courtesy of the baristas in the Kolega Café. It was also great to see our new, easy-to-use point-of-sale machines getting a workout. Overall, it was a fantastic community day out at Tennyson.
The TLG Annual General Meeting was held yesterday. It is with great delight that we welcome four new members to the TLG for 2025/26. Tori Cella will be taking on the role of President, with Camille Duffy as the Vice President. Additionally, Michelle Alizart will join the Hospitality team, and Maureen Kearns will join the Care and Concern Committee. These ladies will work alongside Committee Members Tamara Davies, Susan Milicivic, Nadia Vedelago and Melanie Gordon. I hope that Tori and her team will benefit from amazing support from the Terrace Family, as I have over the years.
After 14 years at Terrace, with my last two on the TLG, it is time for me to say farewell as my final son completes Year 12. Sincere thanks to Su-en Chow and Lusia Holguin, who have completed their time on the Committee and remain at the college. This group has worked incredibly hard to build up the volunteer numbers and support within our Terrace community. It is with great pride that we have taken on these roles.
It is often said that you get much more out of volunteering than you put in. While I can remember times when I would have debated this idea, I know it to be true. If you have volunteered this year, please do it again next year and in the future. If you have not had the chance to yet – do. We need you but we also want you to get the most out of your experience at Terrace.
Our final TLG event of the year is the Staff Lunch on Wednesday 4 December. There are approximately 300 staff who work at Terrace. This includes teachers, teacher aides, IT, administration staff, communication and design professionals, nurses, and facilities and maintenance staff. Each person, through their work at the College and interactions with the community, plays a critical part as a role model, a teacher and a mentor for our sons. The Christmas lunch is a practical way for parents and caregivers to recognise the College staff by organising a festive, relaxed and delicious feast during their final week of the school year.
Please donate your time, your food or financially to this wonderful Terrace Tradition:
Have a merry and safe Christmas.
