Principal's Message Term 4 Week 5 | Dr Michael Carroll
Dear members of the Terrace Family,
Welcome to the mid-way point of Term 4. As I have previously mentioned, these are the weeks when students must be focused on their classwork, planning for and completing their assignments, and beginning revision for upcoming exams. Exams will commence in Week 8, just over two weeks away. The secret to academic success is simple – if students work hard, make the most of class time and the teaching staff's dedication and expertise, and revise consistently, achieving to the very best of their ability will follow. As parents and caregivers, you can support these goals by ensuring good study practices occur at home. Academic success is a joint effort between students, families, and the College.

Tomorrow, the College and the GTOBA will host the 2024 Vintage Terracians’ Morning Tea. Vintage Terracians are those who left the College at least 50 years ago. Old Boys who left the College in 1974 or earlier have been invited to attend this much anticipated annual event, with over 110 Vintage Terracians expected to gather in College Hall and share stories of their time at the College. It will be particularly special to welcome Mr Noel Sparksman (GT 1945), Dr Paul Smith (GT 1948) and Mr Des Morris (GT 1948), who will be the oldest Terracians in attendance. I thank GTOBA President Mr Mark Christensen (GT 1994), and the Development Office staff for overseeing this morning tea. While it is always wonderful to see so many of our Vintage Terracians attend, it is equally great to see the many grandsons who come to College Hall to catch up with their grandfathers during morning tea. It will also be a special day for me, as my father Leo (GT 1954) will attend.
Two significant events in the Catholic Liturgical Calendar will be celebrated later this week. All Saints’ Day will be commemorated on Friday 1 November, and is a day marked in quiet reverence as many Australians reflect on the lives of our Catholic Saints. All Souls’ Day, celebrated on Saturday 2 November, is a day of prayer and remembrance for the souls who have died.
Eternal rest grant upon them, O Lord.
And ley perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Looking forward, next week will be the third week of the Year 12 external exams, and the TLG AGM and Thanksgiving Mass will also occur. This is a reminder to all families that the 2024 Celebration of Excellence evening is scheduled for Tuesday 12 November. More details regarding this special night of celebration can be found on SPIRE/in the College app.
Have a great week.
God bless.
